OFF THE ROAD

Whatever pesky rodents ,mice or rats are living in our loft took revenge upon me today for introducing them to our cat . While reversing out of the garage on my buggy this afternoon I ran over a sharp metal object and punctured a rear tyre.
On examination the sharp object turned out to be the business end of a mouse trap.
“Karma.” I said to myself. I said a few other things as well, but we won't go in to that!

Fortunately I had the number of a reputable Mobility Scooter dealer and was able to arrange for a repair and a service for the “old girl.” Now it must be faced, there are a great many dodgy types in the mobility scooter business, they come, ostensibly to fix your scooter and stay for hours on end attempting to convince you to but a new one....from the, of course.

I know of a couple of elderly people who agreed to buy just to get rid of the salesman who had been with them for five hours. Praying upon the elderly and the disabled is despicable but unfortunately all too common in our time.

The buggy has now go to be repaired and I am grounded until Tuesday, bad enough, Yet it could have been much worse and I an indebted to the nice honest repair man who will receive the Grand Order of the Shortbread on his return next week!

It looks as if I my soon be running the Parish Magazine as the current editor wants to retire. We are to have a meeting to discuss it and then I shall decide if I can cope with the task. My son has offered to help, well he used to be an news editor so it will be a breeze for him.

I seem to have spent an inordinate amount of time on the telephone today, even so I still have a number of calls to catch up on...but not tomorrow. Tomorrow I am cooking a Sunday roast of chicken with all the trimmings and slow as I am it will take quite a while to peel all the veggies and make the stuffing.

This morning a minor miracle occurred .I received a letter from Capita, the organisation deputised to assess disable folk such as myself for disability living allowance. I have been disabled for a long time but it was only this year,February in fact that I was persuaded to put in a claim.

Eighteen weeks I was told from the date of the claim to receiving the benefit if I qualified. I has now been almost forty weeks and I still have a long way to go while these Examiners come to see me the Gods know how long they will take to deliberate upon my worthiness!
I call that gross inefficiency and yet, according to our Health Minister,(may a plague take him) this is an improvement....hmmmm!

The wind is rising ,and I think we are in for another wild night, my niebhbours dustbin spends more time in our drive than in his these days. Sadly I think that our evening at the village bonfire may have to be cancelled, still and evening spend by a lovely log fire indoors is not a thing to complain about I think.
